Are You At Risk? Breast Cancer Awareness

My friend lost her mom to breast cancer. She fought this disease four times during her 66 years here on earth. As a Family Nurse Practitioner. I feel that it’s important for me to share my knowledge on my platform regarding this deadly disease. Is there a cure for Breast Cancer? Can we truly prevent Breast Cancer? There are somethings we can do to decrease our risk for breast cancer like eating a high protein diet, physical activity, limit alcohol intake, no tobacco use, and a few other things that we could do to decrease our risk of developing breast cancer.

What Is A Nurse Practitioner? NP Duties and American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Certified

I have been asked this time and time again, What is a Nurse Practitioner? In this post, I answer what is a Nurse Practitioner.

I’m a nurse who went back to school and I hold a graduate degree in advanced practice nursing. I’m qualified to treat certain medical conditions without the direct supervision of a physician. My speciality is Family. I can see patients from infants to geriatric.

The scope of practice and authority of a nurse Practitioner depends on each individual state law. I’m license in the state of Michigan and I have a national certification from AANP.

As a Nurse Practitioner (FNP/NP) I’m allowed to:
1. Take history and physical
2. Perform physical exam
3. Order lab testing
4. Diagnose, manage and treat diseases
5. Write prescriptions
6. Provide patient education
7. Perform certain procedures
